A recently published government report reveals that Morocco has one of the highest traffic accidents rates worldwide, considering its population size and available car ratio.
The report revealed that 132 traffic accidents, along with an average of ten fatalities, occur in Morocco daily, according to the London based Al-Hayat daily.
Last year, losses incurred due to these accidents were valued at eight billion Moroccan dinars ($700 million). Over 3,600 people were killed during the same time as a result, and nearly 80,000 were injured.
Moroccan fatalities due to traffic accident constituted nearly 18 percent of all traffic related deaths in the Middle East and North Africa last year, which totaled approximately 20,000. In addition, nearly 200,000 people were wounded for related reasons. ― (MENA Report)
