A large consignment of oil from Dubai was rejected two weeks ago by the Kenya Petroleum Refinery. The processing plant, which was subsequently forced to shut down, claimed that the 100,000 cubic-liter delivery, imported by Total Kenya, contained levels of sulfur too high for local refining, reported the East African Standard

The move gave rise to fears of a fuel shortage in Kenya, which led to oil price rises. To avert an oil crisis, Kenyan oil dealers have reportedly announced they will jointly commission a new oil shipment from Abu Dhabi. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a major supplier of crude oil to Kenya. — (menareport.com)
