Orascom Hotels and Development (OHD), one of Egypt’s largest land development companies, Sunday had the ground breaking event for “The Cove”, their first major project in the UAE.  This project will cover 50 acres of untouched beach property on Ras Al Khaimah’s coastline.

Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah along with Sheikh Faisal bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAK Finance Department were the guests of honor on the occasion. During the ceremony which was held at the construction site, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi was presented with a personalized polished spade with his name engraved on the handle.

The highlight of the evening was the setting itself, the blend of a traditional Arabic desert theme along with a beach side paradise. Hemp rope and antiqued pole borders with traditional lanterns (unlit at this time) led into an open area that is floored with rush matting and covered with Persian rugs. To the right of that setting, there was a traditional Bedouin tent with brightly colored cushions, a charcoal fire with a welcoming coffee served in traditional UAE style.

The Cove is just 40 minutes away from Dubai International Airport, using the new Emirates highway and includes 134 Nubian style furnished villas. So far, “The Cove” has proved to be a great success with nearly 50% of the villas already being sold only after a few days of it’s unveiling. Additionally, one can find a beautiful golf course, choice of shopping malls, supermarkets, international schools, hospitals and the thriving Ras Al Khaimah Free Zone only a few minutes away.

Samih Sawiris, Chairman of Orascom Hotels and Development, said “We’re extremely excited about The Cove, not only is it our first major project in the UAE, but it’s also going to be one of the most prestigious destinations in the region. This is the beginning to a long range of projects in the region, we’re ecstatic.”

He added “The opening ceremony was only a small hint as to what we have planned for The Cove. We expect people everywhere to talk about this project; we want The Cove to be the stepping stone for future projects in the UAE and we’re very happy that we can bring our services and years of experience to the region”
