A young blacksmith from Chad, who claimed he could make money rain down from the heavens, has landed in court.
Police were tipped off about E.A., 30, who said he possessed extraordinary powers and could ask genies to shower money from the sky.
An undercover police officer met the man in his apartment in Al Mamzar last August, where he allegedly claimed he could make $25 million (Dh92 million) rain down on a certain spot. The officer said E.A. ordered him to provide certain items and asked him to pray to God for money. After the officer pretended to do so, E.A. asked him to fetch some seawater. When the cop came back, E.A said genies had come and were waiting to shower the money.
He took the officer to a room and showed him an iron box which he said will be filled with money. Again, he asked the officer to kneel down and pray six times after which he said the money would be in the box.
After doing so, the officer opened the box and found some US dollars. E.A. then asked the officer for Dh200 to "tip" the genies.
E.A. was promptly arrested. The next hearing in the case is on January 12.
