A state of anger was felt by the viewers of the opposition "Sham" TV channel after its got and aired a video clip showing Maher Assad, the brother of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, standing amid corpses and body parts and takes pictures through his mobile phone.
Some anti-regime activists and Syrian dissidents uploaded the video to Youtube in order to show the "extent of brutality" of the Syrian regime and its lack of respect to the dead.
Maher al-Assad, the commander of the Republican Guard is known to be a powerful figure in the Syrian regime. In the past it was said that Anisa Makhlouf the mother of the current president suggested Maher will take over. Maher Assad is the third sone of late Syrian president Hafiz Assad after the late Basil and the current president, Bashar. Maher al-Assad is a member of the ruling Baath Party's central committee and is said to be a close advisor of Bashar.
