A medical team in Algeria has succeeded in removing a young woman's breasts weighing 12 kg each, in the first such surgery in the North African county's history and perhaps even at the international level. The operation was supervised by the surgeon Baali Daud and his team and was conducted at Ibn Rushd hospital, which is located in Anaba, some 600 km east of the Algeria capital. It was conducted last month.

The 24 year old woman identified as "H. Asia" wished to get rid of this over weight from her slim body which weighs no more than 50 kg. The high weight of the breasts had an impact on the health of her backbone.

Ali Daud said that in a later stage a second surgery will be conducted for Asia to install silicon implants to her breasts in order for her to regain normal life.
