InterContinental Hotel Abu Dhabi appoints new chef

InterContinental Abu Dhabi announced today, that Mr. Patrick Fournes, joined the crew as the new chef at the hotel. He was welcomed by Mr. Simon Stamper, General Manager of the Abu Dhabi Intercontinental Hotel, and said he has the experience and efficiency of the position, as he experienced months in the international hotels in Europe, Asia and North Africa.
He said that the accession of Mr. Furness to the family of the hotel is extremely important, because it will add new lists of special and international cuisine, within restaurants of Intercontinental Hotel Abu Dhabi.
Also Mr. Furness was very pleased to work in the Intercontinental Hotel in Abu Dhabi saying, “I am thrilled to join the hotel, promising our guests and visitors from the United Arab Emirates, the Gulf region and the world, that we will provide them with best variety of dishes mixed with local, Eastern European and Asian flavors.”
Mr. Furness worked at the Hotel Intercontinental -Manila, where he gained considerable experience in the preparation of tropical dishes.
He said he will introduce new varieties of food and desserts on the menu in some restaurants, of Intercontinental Abu Dhabi. He said that after the holy month of Ramadan, by September 2011, there will be a new menus in almost every restaurants.
Intercontinental Hotel kitchen will add famous Italian meals, and add a variety of cuisines to the menu of the Belgian cafe, which depends on the import of fresh Clams from Europe.
The Fish Market Restaurant will remain as it is for its outstanding performance. In addition, the Brazilian restaurant, Chamas, will be adding Camel meat to its menu.
As part of the Chef experience in the preparation of tropical foods, InterContinental Abu Dhabi will create a new Asian restaurant, with characteristics of Asian decor. As well as the launch of the new Yacht Club restaurant, which will be serving a new list of dishes that consists of seafood and sweets.
Mr Furness said that, on occasions and wedding celebrations, there will be special menus for guests and visitors. And It is worth mentioning that this summer will include special offers for staying at the Hotel Intercontinental Abu Dhabi.
The French-born chef has an experience of up to 15 years. He got his education from Michelin- France, and said / later moved to Switzerland to work in one of the five-star hotels, Geneva. He then moved to England, where he worked in the famous Dorchester - London, and learned proper English there, and gained a lot of skills there as great team work, discipline and practice. He adds, “ I got a chance to move to Hong Kong to work in / Mandarin Oriental / then moved to the Shangri-La Hotel in Hong Kong and got to the point of the Chief Executive Chef in Indonesia and the Philippines also, for the Shangri-La group."
He continued, saying: "I took a new turn by going to Morocco, to take responsibilities of food and restaurants in hotels and royal palaces. Then decided to move to Egypt to work in a chain of hotels and resorts."
He concluded by saying, "After working in the Philippines, Intercontinental Hotel Manila, I am lucky enough to go to the beautiful capital of Abu Dhabi and be offered the Chief Executive Chef of the Abu Dhabi Intercontinental Hotel.”
