American Express Middle East celebrates 20th anniversary of Membership Rewards programme with special offers

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of its Membership Rewards programme, American Express Middle East announced that Cardmembers who enrol into the Membership Rewards programme, through the month of April, will automatically receive 2,000 bonus points as a welcome incentive.
The special enrolment offer is part of an ongoing series of initiatives by American Express Middle East to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its global award winning loyalty programme. Launched in 1991, Membership Rewards is one of the most recognised card-based loyalty programmes, with more than 15 million members worldwide. It is also widely accepted as one of the strongest airline loyalty programmes in the MENA region. More than 60 per cent of American Express Middle East’s Cardmembers are currently enrolled in the Membership Rewards programme.
“The Membership Rewards programme is in line with American Express’ commitment to providing unmatched benefits, rewards and life-enriching experiences to Cardmembers,” said Bilal Alavi, Head of Marketing, American Express Middle East. “It is also central to driving growth for our merchant partners as Cardmembers enrolled in Membership Rewards generate around three to four times more spend.
“As we commemorate the 20th anniversary of our Membership Rewards programme globally, we are constantly working closely with our partners to launch several schemes that will add significant value to Cardmembers who enrol in the programme,” he added.
Earlier this year, American Express Middle East also tied up with British Airways to offer Cardmembers a 30 per cent bonus BA miles upon transfer of their Membership Rewards points to the British Airways Executive Club programme.
Membership Rewards points can be earned on all purchases by Cardmembers who have enrolled in the programme. The programme enables enrolled Card members to earn one Membership Reward point for virtually every US dollar spent on their Cards. Also, unlike other loyalty programmes, Membership Rewards points never expire and there is no ceiling limit to how many points can be earned, so Cardmembers can continue collecting points to avail big ticket purchases or lifestyle experiences.
Cardmembers can choose from a wide range of rewards including Airline tickets, hotel stays, merchandise items, shopping vouchers, car rental, dining options, charity and much more, available from around 100 Membership Rewards partners in the Middle East.
