ALHOSN University & Kettering University sign international articulation agreement

ALHOSN University, a leading Abu Dhabi-based university dedicated to high-quality value-based education, has signed an International Articulation Agreement with US-based Kettering University to promote and expand international understanding, development and friendship between the two institutions. 

Under the terms of the agreement, both universities will encourage and assist educational, professional and intercultural activities and projects among their students and staff as well as the communities supporting them. Among the specific areas of mutual interest identified under the agreement are student exchange programs, faculty and staff exchanges, faculty participation in collaborative research and scholarly publishing, and relationship-building with local industry. The agreement was signed by Dr. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, ALHOSN University Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Stanley Liberty, Kettering University President, and will remain in force through 2013.

Kettering University’s focus on engineering, math, science and business complements our own emphasis on the technical and business fields. This agreement builds upon the strong ties we are already maintaining with Kettering University to provide added academic and professional growth opportunities for both our institutions,” said Prof. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, Vice Chancellor and CEO, ALHOSN University. 

The upper management of the two universities are expected to negotiate supplemental agreements for the development of programs and projects in areas of mutual interest, and to address related financial aspects. Each institution will accept qualified full-time and part-time students as well as allow short-term student visitations from the other institution. Students will also benefit from continuing education and training opportunities throughout the academic year. 

Kettering University was originally founded as ‘The School of Automobile Trades’ on October 20, 1919 and later on became the ‘General Motors Institute.’ The university is historically connected with the American automotive industry and is in fact named after the inventor Charles Kettering, the former head of research for General Motors. Kettering University is ranked by US News and World Report as one of the best schools for undergraduate engineering education. Kettering’s Industrial and Manufacturing programs have been consistently ranked among the best engineering programs in the US.

Founded in 2005, ALHOSN University accepts students of all nationalities and upholds a teaching philosophy of ‘global knowledge with local vision.’ It offers 11 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs under the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Business, and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
