Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a top-tier Islamic financial services group, announced today the launch of its financial education campaign with the release of its ‘Smartmoney’ financial booklet. This is part of a broad, long-term initiative by ADIB that aims to deliver on the promise of ‘banking as it should be.’ The booklet is an easy-to-understand financial guide that illustrates simple steps to managing money better, budgeting, savings, managing debt and investments, understanding risks and creating personal wealth.

Smartmoney is part of a series of initiatives designed to help customers improve their personal money management skills and to empower them to make informed and responsible financial decisions.

Says Tirad Mahmoud, CEO of ADIB: “Financial education is a long-term initiative of ADIB and we believe it is timely for the UAE where many people have been prone to overlook best practices and suffer from uninformed financial choices. The Smartmoney booklet, that will be available for free at all ADIB branches across the country, is just the beginning. We will unveil financial education for all customer segments, be they children, SMEs, ladies or affluent customers. Financial education is an integral part of our brand promise. We are confident our customers and community will find it a useful instrument that will help them live a balanced financial life.”

Smartmoney does not promote any products but teaches customers the basics of money management and covers all important aspects of financial planning. It includes a simple personal budget format, money management guides, information on debt cycle, risk assessment checklist and savings planner.

Both customers and non-customers can pick up a free copy of Smartmoney from any ADIB branch. ADIB aims to increase financial literacy through a free circulation of the booklet in both Arabic and English in the UAE.

“Launching an educational tool such as Smartmoney is in line with our brand promise to help people make right financial choices. Educating the community about living within their means, and guiding them on methods to protect themselves from financial mismanagement, is a vital component in Islamic banking. A well-informed and financially savvy community contributes to the health of the economy. We are glad to play our part.” concluded Tirad.
