Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) has commenced a comprehensive summer safety campaign for the company’s employees and its numerous contractors to raise awareness of the health risks of working outdoors and the preventive measures that can be taken to minimise the impact on rising temperatures. The company’s dedicated safety team kicked off the campaign ahead of the summer, where temperatures can regularly reach a scorching 45 degree Celsius.

The multifaceted campaign includes disseminating heat mitigating gear while ensuring that those working directly under the sun have an ample supply of water bottles and electrolytes throughout the working day. ADAC has also hosted through GCAS educational seminars on heat-caused stress, and distribute informative leaflets and posters explaining day to day steps everyone should take, particularly those working outdoors.

The Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies (GCAS), the training arm for Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), managed the seminars over a period of two weeks. The seminars tackled health related issues that are caused by heat exhaustion and recommendations for working during high temperatures safely and efficiently. Seminars were conducted in Arabic, English Hindi and Urdu supporting the majority of spoken languages at ADAC.

Capt. Mohamed Al Shehhi, Vice President of Safety, Security & Environment at ADAC, said: “ADAC seeks to maintain high standards of safety compliance in the work environment. We take employee safety and wellbeing very seriously and this campaign forms an integral part of our objective to become the preferred employer in the ever growing aviation industry in the UAE and the region. “

The campaign was rolled out at key locations within the company including Abu Dhabi International Airport, Al Ain International Airport, and Al Bateen Executive Airport.
