Wataniya Airways, Kuwait’s best airline, in cooperation with the Egyptian Embassy in Kuwait and travel agents, has launched a tourism initiative called ‘We Love Egypt’ to encourage tourism to Egypt following the revolution on 25 January.  The initiative was launched with a special visit by tourists flying with Watanya Airways from Kuwait to Sharm El Sheikh and Cairo.

The Egyptian General Consul to Kuwait Ambassador Salah Al-Wasaime said: “We are touched by the love of Kuwaitis for Egypt and their concern during the past times and how eager they are to revisit Egypt, now that the situation is back to normal. This demonstration of love for Egypt is truly genuine, and  we feel and appreciate the love of Kuwaitis for Egypt.

“We thank the Kuwaiti people for the wonderful expression of their love for Egypt, and assure you that this love is mutual. As representatives of the Arab Republic of Egypt, we will be holding a range of festivities to celebrate with our Kuwaiti brothers and sisters Kuwait’s 50th anniversary of independence, and 20th year since liberation to express how much the Egyptian people love the Kuwaiti people too.”

Jassim Al Qames, Wataniya Airways’ Head of Public Relations said: “As a national Kuwaiti carrier, we are proud to take part in this Arab show of support and help build a new bridge of love and communication between the Kuwaiti and Egyptian peoples.

“This initiative is to support the tourism industry in Egypt and help it return to normal, especially in key tourism areas such as Sharm El Sheikh and Cairo. Egypt always attracted many visitors from Kuwait and it is now open and ready to welcome them again.”

“Our top priority at Wataniya Airways is the safety and security of our guests, and we would not have invited Kuwaitis to visit Egypt and supported this initiative if we believed the security situation was not fully resolved.”

Mr. Al Qames added: “We are already seeing an increase in the number of tourists and visitors from Kuwait and other countries. It is known that the majority of tourists visiting Egypt are from Europe, and the number of European tourists is currently starting to return to where it was before the revolution. We would like to support our Egyptian brothers and help them promote the tourism industry between Kuwait and Egypt through such activities and trips."

Several Kuwaiti families and members of the Kuwaiti Diving team, who will diving in one of the best diving sites in the world in the Egyptian resort of Sharm El Sheikh, were onboard the flight. After spending some time in Sharm El Sheikh, the group will visit Cairo in order to enjoy the antiquities and unique cultural heritage and hospitality the city has to offer visitors.

Guests wishing to travel on Wataniya Airways can book tickets by logging on to the airline’s website www.wataniyaairways.com or by calling the Kuwait Guest Contact Centre on 118 or +965 24379999, or by making a reservation through their preferred travel agent.
