Dubai Properties Group (DPG), a member of Dubai Holding, today announced it hosted the launch of 'Clean Up The World' campaign in Dubai at The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence as part of the company's commitment to social responsibility.

Over 40 DPG employees supported the event with a day-long beach beautification initiative today (26 October) at the Jumeirah beach adjacent to The Walk, a seaside promenade popular among residents and visitors alike.

The four-day 'Clean Up The World' campaign, spearheaded by Dubai Municipality, brings together volunteers who work together to improve the areas around the local community through removing waste from beaches, waterways, public areas and streets, and generates environmental awareness and community pride.

The initiative also includes a photography exhibition that will trace Dubai's development over the years and highlight the emirate's contribution to community-related environmental programmes.

Khalid Al Malik, Group Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Properties Group, said: "We are pleased to support this event which brings together communities, schools and businesses in an important initiative that works towards conserving our environment. The participation of DPG employees is in line with our pledge to unite the community in events and activities that effect social change."

Hussain Lootah, Director-General, Dubai Municipality, said: "Dubai Municipality has been organising this annual campaign with significant success for over 17 years. We have achieved positive results in educating young people on the importance of maintaining a clean environment. Our campaign has also provided local youth with comprehensive concepts for safeguarding the environment. With the support of DPG, we are confident this year's campaign will be a great success."

'Clean up the World', a world-wide initiative held annually in conjunction with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), aims to mobilise over 40 million people around the world across 120 countries each year to clean up, fix up and conserve the environment, making it one of the largest campaigns in the world.

Last year, more than 6,000 students from various public and private educational institutions in Dubai, and more than 8,000 staff volunteers from government and private sector companies participated in the events and activities of the clean-up campaign.

The campaign succeeded in raising environmental awareness levels and growing a sense of social responsibility among many members of the community. In addition, it helped strengthen the role of educational institutions participating in voluntary environmental campaigns which are organised annually by the Dubai Municipality's Waste Management Department.

As a builder of diversified communities, Dubai Properties Group seeks to connect people and support diverse strata of our society through community-oriented activities. DPG continuously endeavours to host events and activities that engage and support the community in which we live and work.
