Muna Wasif defends her daughter’s love affair

Syrian director Alaa Al Din Kukash has begun filming the first scenes of the new television drama “Rijalak Ya Sham” (Men of Syria) starring prominent Syrian actress Muna Wasif. In the drama Muna plays the role of a mother that defends her daughter’s love affair with the neighbor’s son, whose relationship to was considered forbidden.

 

According to the internet website MBC.net, the drama tackles the rural social life in the old traditional Damascus homes. The events of the drama take place during the French occupation of Syria. The director stated that his concentration is on relationship between individuals and the problems that are connected with them.

 

Alaa stated that the title of the drama is a temporary one and may be changed along the way. The story of the drama revolves around a love story between two young people who are faced with numerous obstacles due to the fact that any intimate relationship was considered a taboo and against the traditions of society.

 

The drama is produced by the ‘Ghazal Art Production’ and is scheduled to be aired during the Ramadan season. A number of prominent Syrian actors will take part in the drama, like As’ad Fiddah, Nadine Khoury, Saleem Kalas, Imarat Rizik, Nadine Tahsin Bayk, Samar Sami, Sawsan Arsheed and others.
