Prominent resigned Egyptian actress Athar Al Hakim stressed her insistency on not returning to her acting career and denied recent circulating rumors that she has been nominated for a new role as Zainab Al Ghazali, who is the female head in the Muslim Sisterhood, in the era of the late Egyptian President Jamal Abd Al Naser.
Athar was shocked by proposals made from television drama and film makers to play roles in different works. The actress said that the timing of her decision to permanently resign from her acting career came when conditions in Egypt became unstable with the revolution and that is why many did not know of her decision and kept nominating her for different works.
Athar revealed that she had always dreamed of presenting a religious work and one about the revolution before resigning, but the dream never came true.
The actress reiterated that her nomination to play the role of Zainab, who was tortured severely during her life for her beliefs in the 1960s, is not true. She added that she never received any request to play such a role or had given her approval for it in addition to never have met with the makers of the drama.
Athar stated that the press should validate what they publish and get to the bottom of a subject before writing lies.
