Atletico Madrid are set to submit an offer for Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Madrid-based club are in the market for a replacement to AC Milan-bound Alvaro Morata.

They have identified the Argentina international as the right man to take over from Spain's captain, who is on his way back to Italy.

Atletico boss Diego Simeone is urging the club to pursue Alvarez, who has just helped Argentina claim the Copa America 2024 title.

He netted 19 times and provided 13 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions last term.

The 24-year-old still has four more years remaining in his current deal.

However, he may consider leaving the Etihad Stadium for a chance to play regular football, rather than play second fiddle to Erling Haaland.
