Smartworld, the next generation Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services provider in the Middle East, has been awarded the Arab eContent Award 2011 in the e-Business & Commerce category, for its revolutionary Smart Hosted Unified Communications solution. The company, co-owned by Etisalat and Dubai World Central, will now represent the Arab World in the upcoming World Summit Awards (WSA), a global contest to select and promote the world's best e-Content and most innovative ICT applications.

The awards ceremony was held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology, during the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum from 16th to 18th of May 2011.

Smartworld was selected to represent UAE in the Award’s e-Business & Commerce category by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA). The winners of the award, who will automatically be eligible to compete for the WSA 2011, were evaluated by the Grand Jury of the World Summit Award which convened in Hong Kong last April to select the world’s best eContent and creative use of ICT.

Abdulla Hashim, Chairman of Smartworld said, “We are extremely delighted to be recognised by the Arab eContent Award and the WSA. Smartworld has consistently offered world-class customer centric solutions with unmatched convenience, enhanced flexibility and true reliability to its customers. I thank our management team and all our employees because it is their work that is being honoured today.”

Smartworld's comprehensive service families allow clients to increase operational efficiencies, drive business value and reduce Total Cost of Ownership. The revolutionary Smart Hosted Unified Communications Solution is designed to meet all the communication needs in today’s and tomorrow’s dynamic business environment. It provides the cutting edge functionalities of UC with added accessibility and mobility. Offered as a cloud service, Smart Hosted UC allows businesses of all sizes to effectively utilize advanced and integrated enterprise communication features.

Mustafa Kaddoura, Acting CEO, Smartworld said, “Smartworld’s success is based on our ability to deliver secure and reliable technology products and services that are developed using a research driven and customer centric approach to understanding today's changing business environment. This approach drives us to becoming an important asset to our clients, local communities and our partner ecosystem. Smartworld’s ICT services are based on the industry’s best practices to meet real-time challenges faced by customers today. The Smart Host UC uses the latest and most innovative technology that makes it an award-winning service.”

The Business & Commerce category of the Awards is judged based on the product’s support and optimization of business processes; its creation of new business models in e-commerce and m-commerce, business to business, business to consumers, internet security and other areas; its supporting of SMEs on the marketplace; and its value in buying and selling as well as servicing customers and collaborating with business partners.

The Arab eContent Award is part of the WSA. It implements the vision of the World Summit Award and shares the awareness for the need for local digital content. All registration, evaluation, and jury proceeding are done according to international standards set by worldwide experts in the domain of eContent.
