Lebanon has no king, and for now no president either, but today it boasts a queen - and we’re not talking Amal Clooney (despite those irresistible rumors that her hubby may run for US President). Lebanese-born Mia Khalifa (not her real name) is the newly crowned Queen of Porn thanks to her popular performances on the world’s most-visited adult video site, PornHub.
The Miami-based star made her debut in October 2014 and quickly become a favorite among adult film fans, but now she’s being bombarded with death threats and messages of hate - many from her homeland. But with her role model being sex-tape-famed buxom big-bootied Kim Kardashian, can we fully blame her just because she hails from the conservative Middle East?
Not firing blanks
Nonetheless, this shameless starlet isn’t taking the criticism lying down. She hit back at her haters on Twitter, saying, “Doesn’t the Middle East have more important things to worry about besides me? How about finding a president? Or containing ISIS?” Just one of many smart-witted come-backs she’s been pumping out on twitter.
Tattoo-lly unacceptable!
While Lebanon is considered one of the Middle East’s most liberal countries, Khalifa’s porn career and her Arab-themed tattoos aren’t playing well with many natives, including her very own - in her own words - “extremely strict, overbearing, and very conservative” parents. She’s inked with the beginning lines to the Lebanese national anthem. Another tatt is the Lebanese Forces Cross, symbol of the Lebanese Christian political party. And a controversial and sometimes inflammatory label to have branded on her much-exhibited bod, given the divisive element of Lebanese politics.
To make matters worse, in one of her videos, Mia satirically wears a Muslim hijab! Quick to point out that Hollywood has depicted Muslims in more unflattering roles than adult films possibly could, she refuses to take the heat for that Charlie Hebdo-ism, insult to the religion.
“They’re embarrassed I’m ‘claiming’ them - as if I had a choice. I was born there,” she told Newsweek magazine. The Lebanese Examiner quoted her saying, “I was born and raised there, I’m entitled to an opinion on the politics just like everyone else.”
We present to you Mia Khalifa, a ‘Lebanese force’ to reckon with and the latest face of Middle Eastern porn, in these dirty dozen slides.
