RAK Ceramics, the world's largest ceramic tiles & sanitaryware manufacturing company, has announced that it successfully participated in the ninth edition of the Clean Up UAE campaign, a clean-up drive organised by the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) that was simultaneously conducted across different locations in the UAE yesterday (Sunday, December 12, 2010). At least 50 RAK Ceramics employees and senior managers volunteered to clean up a section of the Ras Al Khaimah beach during the activity, which was organised as part of a global campaign against environmental degradation and climate change.

Abdulla Mahmood, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, RAK Ceramics, said: "The Clean Up UAE campaign is an excellent opportunity to reinforce RAK Ceramics' commitment to environmental protection and conservation. This is a meaningful exercise that benefits the entire community and provides a great venue for social integration and interaction for our employees and other members of the society. RAK Ceramics looks forward to be more actively involved and even initiate similar activities in the future."

Clean Up UAE is a groundbreaking initiative introduced by EEG that gathers thousands of participants annually since its inauguration in 2002. RAK Ceramics employees and other volunteers simultaneously conducted clean-up drives in key locations all over the UAE, including parks, industrial areas, beaches, wadis, deserts and mountain ranges.

RAK Ceramics is a USD 1 billion global conglomerate in the ceramic industry, offering a product portfolio comprising over 6,000 designs in ceramic tiles, Gres Porcellanato, and several models in sanitaryware. The company has also been recently conferred the SuperBrand 2010 Award and continues to be a global pioneer in the world of ceramics through innovative products such as the RAKSLIM, a new brand of 4.5-millimetre thick tile that sets new industry benchmarks in thickness, strength, cost and ease of use.
