ALBAWABA - In a recent interview, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg commended former President Donald Trump, highlighting the strength of his response to an attack.
Although Zuckerberg did not explicitly endorse Trump, his remarks align with other Silicon Valley leaders like Elon Musk and Rupert Murdoch, who have shown support for the former president.
Zuckerberg noted that Trump's reaction after being attacked was particularly strong and inspiring. He stated, “Witnessing Donald Trump get up after being shot in the face and raise his fist with the American flag is one of the most powerful things I've ever seen. As an American, it's impossible not to be moved by that spirit and fight, and I believe that's why so many people admire him.”
Despite his comments, Zuckerberg clarified that he does not plan to support either Trump or President Joe Biden in the upcoming elections. He emphasized that he has no intention of getting involved in the electoral process.
However, his remarks place him among other prominent Silicon Valley figures such as Tesla CEO Elon Musk and venture capitalists Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, who have expressed warmth towards Trump and pledged donations to his campaign.
Zuckerberg's relationship with Trump is complicated. Trump has frequently used Meta’s platforms to reach his followers, often sharing posts that contain misinformation or challenge Meta’s policies. Following the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, Meta banned Trump from Facebook and Instagram for two years.
Zuckerberg made these comments during an interview with Emily Chang on The Circuit, where he discussed various topics including the future of artificial intelligence and social media. The full interview is set to be aired next week.
