ALBAWABA - A video of an American citizen with a little child in Colombia has sparked wide debate and controversy online after the U.S. man was accused ofc sexually abusing the little boy.

A clip went viral quickly, especially on X, showing an American man along with a child on a balcony in Bogota city, in the South American country. The man was accused by passersby, who called the cops, of sexually assaulting the little boy.

The 36-year-old man, who is from Texas, was initially accused of abusing a 7-year-old boy on a balcony in broad daylight, and he was detained by the Colombian police.

The footage showed a man holding a child next to the railing of a balcony at a residential building in an upscale neighborhood in northern Bogota, CBS News reported.

"He's abusing the child, let him go!" a woman who filmed the video was heard shouting.

Several others also yelled at the man, while dozens of others gathered Sunday at the entrance of the building, calling authorities to intervene and arrest the American man.

The man was released from detention, CBS News confirmed, and he was freed from all charges.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro also explained the incident by saying that the man "apparently did not" abuse any children. He said the man had taken the child out onto the balcony because the child was choking on food. Petro appeared to blame the incident on artificial intelligence and "computer manipulation."

Three children were found at the apartment of the American man, and they were all examined by authorities.

"The National Institute of Legal Medicine confirmed that there had been no sexual violence. Given the speed with which we were able to respond, any form of sexual violence against the three children has been ruled out," Asrid Cáceres, the director of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute, announced in an interview.
