ALBAWABA - A video of a UK man allegedly chasing a Muslim couple with a chainsaw angered human rights activists and Muslims across social media.
The video in question took place at a gas station and showcased a man getting out of a white vehicle and running toward the people while holding a chainsaw.
A post on X (formerly known as Twitter) claimed that the incident took place on Aug. 5, 2024, at a Shell gas station in Manchester and called it an "Islamophobic" attack.

The riots occurring right now are due to the recent Southport stabbing that resulted in the killing of three girls triggering a plethora across the United Kingdom with phrases like "Save our kids," and "We want our country back," according to Al Jazeera.
This triggered a long list of attacks on Muslims and immigrants in the UK due to misinformation that the suspect, 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana was a Muslim immigrant which turned out to be false.
He was born to Rwandan parents in Cardiff, Whales, and was confirmed to be not a Mulsim.
Social media reacts to the incident
Social media users took to multiple comment sections featuring the video, here's what they had to say about the matter:
Some users claimed that the man wasn't holding a chainsaw while running, but a hedge trimmer which is a tool used to cut and tidy up garden bushes.
A user wrote, "The worrying aspect is, how many people have pointed out in the comments section - it's not a chainsaw - but a hedge trimmer. As if it's just part of British culture now to chase people with a hedge trimmer at a petrol station?"
"And then they say “stop playing the victim” like wtf."
"The guy who committed the horrendous murder was not a Muslim so why are the Muslims getting targeted?"
"How is attacking completely unrelated people in a different city helping the grieving families?"
"I don't excuse him, but clearly there's more to this story than what you've written.
