ALBAWABA - Musk's X (formerly Twitter) recently rolled out a new update that displays the user's country of origin. One account, which belongs to the US Homeland Security, became the talk of social media after a video captured its location.

The video posted by a user called "sneedfeeder" claimed that Homeland Security's X account is reportedly based in Israel. Sneedfeeder wrote, "They gave me special access to the new feature. This account is located in Israel."

However, upon visiting the account's official page, it states that the Homeland Security X account is based in the United States.

Other users took to the platform with other videos claiming that many accounts that promote "MAGA" and "right-wing" political views were based outside the US, including countries such as Nigeria, Turkey, and unknown Eastern European countries.

An account called "The General," which promotes MAGA views, garnered over 141,000 followers, but after the update rolled out, it stated that it was operating from Turkey.

The General recently shared a post with the caption "America Only," only to get slammed with a community note that read, "This account is claiming to be based in the United States but they are based in Turkey."

The update that sparked debate on the platform rolled out on November 21. However, Musk removed the long-awaited feature hours after introducing it without notice.

According to Mashable, X's head of product, Nikita Bier, replied to some users that the new update was showing "inaccurate information."
