ALBAWABA - The Syrian presidency announced on Tuesday that the country's First Lady Asma Assad, wife of Syrian President Bashar Assad, has been diagnosed with leukemia.
The statement published by the Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic a few minutes ago on social media platforms revealed that Asma Assad, 48, recently underwent a series of medical and laboratory tests.
The results of the tests confirmed that the Syrian First Lady is suffering from acute myelogenous leukemia.
The statement also reads that Asma Assad is set to undergo a specialized treatment protocol that requires isolation conditions while achieving appropriate social distancing, so she will be absent from many official events.
