ALBAWABA - As the death toll in the Gaza Strip from Israeli airstrikes rises to 2,329, a rumor has been spreading online claiming that Israel is planning a new city in replace of Gaza.
Some social media users have been circulating the news claiming that a new city called Nova will be built on the ruins of the Gaza Strip.
Alex Daniel, an entrepreneur with over 133,000 followers, was believed to be one of the first to share an imagined image of how the alleged Nova city will look like after it is built, claiming that it will replace Gaza.
He wrote: "I present to you the new tourist and vacation city in the south that is going to be built soon in Israel: Nova."
The image of the alleged, imagined Nova city shows high buildings and a very developed area claiming it will mainly be a tourist attraction.
Many activists and pro-Palestinians were angered by the post as tens slammed the plan to "fully destroy Gaza" and turn it into an Israeli city.
A netizen commented: "It's Gaza and it will be forever Gaza and Palestine will be free soon inshallah."
Israeli strikes on Gaza since Hamas's Al-Aqsa Flood operation have killed at least 2,329 people with over 9,000 others injured, the health ministry in the Gaza Strip announced Sunday morning.
