ALBAWABA - The robe of Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei has been the talk of social media following a viral picture showing the famous black robe and Keffiyeh abandoned on his chair after the airstrike targeting Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Hezbollah.
According to Iranian sources, Ali Khamenei held yesterday an emergency meeting in Tehran following the Israeli airstrike targeting the headquarters of Hezbollah in Beirut's southern suburbs.
On Sept. 27, the Israeli army announced striking six buildings in Beirut's southern suburbs confirming that Hezbollah's leader was inside one of the buildings.
Hezbollah released a statement confirming the assassinations of its secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah.
Khamenei removes robe after Nasrallah's assassination, does it mean war?
Social media users circulated the image of the black robe of Khamenei left on a chair with the Iranian flag seen behind and started to speculate its meaning. Many said this is a metaphor with strong political meaning and refers to an unexpected move by a religious figure like Ali Khamenei.
According to allegations and analyses, this could indicate a radical shift in the position of Ali Khamenei or any similar religious figure, from the role of a spiritual leader to the role of a military commander preparing for confrontation or escalation.
As well, some activists took it online to claim that this could mean Iran is preparing for a direct confrontation between Israel and Tehan.
