ALBAWABA - French President Emmanuel Macron has triggered the anger of Israelis and even Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after his last comment on the Gaza war and weapons transfer to Tel Aviv.
On Saturday, Macron urged to stop arms deliveries to Israel which it uses for war in Gaza, provoking a sharp response from the Israeli Prime Minister who criticized him in a direct video message.
In an interview, the French president denied any weapons shipping from Paris to Tel Aviv and said: "I think that today, the priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop delivering weapons to fight in Gaza."
In response, Netanyahu posted a video decrying Macron's comment on arms deliveries to Israel. He said: "As Israel fights the forces of barbarism led by Iran, all civilised countries should be standing firmly by Israel's side." "Yet, President Macron and other Western leaders are now calling for arms embargoes against Israel. Shame on them," he continued.
Israelis took the chance to also mock President Macron calling him "the future leader of Hezbollah".
An X user, named Dr. Eli David, posted an AI-generated picture of Emmanuel Macron wearing a Shitte turban (head cap known in Arabic as عمامة الرأس) with a long black beard. He posted the picture just after Macron's comments on the arms delivered to Israel.
Dr. Eli David captioned the picture: "Breaking: Emmanuel Macron was nominated as the next leader of Hezbollah."
A French Maritime expert and ex-senior officer of the Marine Nationale also reshared the picture of Macron and said: "Emmanuel Macron future leader of Hezbollah? Seriously, all this is terribly lacking in testosterone."
In addition, many other AI-generated photos showing Macron standing or shaking hands with Iranian and Hezbollah leaders were also posted on social media.
It is worth noting that Macron's remarks came days before the first anniversary of the Hamas' surprising October 7 attack against Israel, the biggest in decades.
