ALBAWAB - Renowned Iraqi singer Hussein Al-Turki recently shared a concerning video claiming that he was deceived into joining the Russian army by a scam company.
According to Shafaq News, Hussein revealed in the video that he signed a document, which he thought at first was a four-month contract to perform his songs in Russia for a sum of money, only to discover later that he had enlisted to join the Russian military for a full year against its war with Ukraine. The Iraqi singer added that upon arriving in Moscow, he travelled 16 hours away from the capital, had his phone confiscated, and signed documents he could not understand.

It seems that Hussein is not the first victim of such scams. The singer warned that other Iraqis are being deceived into joining the Russian military using similar tactics. Additionally, drones and bombardments were heard during Hussein's video, indicating that he's currently in a war zone.
He said that an Iraqi barber was scammed into joining the Russian military with similar tactics. Recruiters promised to "open a shop for him and help him make a living in Russia."
In the clip, the Iraqi singer said that he attempted to contact the tourism company responsible for the issue at hand and offered to pay his way back to Iraq. However, the company's owner told him that it was "out of their hands." At the end of the video, he urged Iraqi locals to take action and aid those who fell for the scam.
