ALBAWABA - A picture of Italian swimmer Thomas Ceccon sleeping in a park in Paris has sparked wide controversy on social media.

In the photo, the Italian swimmer, who is widely described as "handsome" by many social media users and fans, was spotted taking a nap on a white cloth on the grass triggering a debate on why he left his room in the Olympic Village.

It is worth noting that Thomas won a gold medal in his first race of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and a bronze medal in his second one.

The Italian swimmer said his poor playing is due to low food quality and a lack of air conditioning in the Olympic Village.

The photo was first shared by a fellow athlete on social media before it went viral and reached international and local media outlets.

"It is not an alibi it is the pure chronicle of what perhaps not everyone knows," Thomas Ceccon said.

Not only the Italian swimmer, but many athletes complained about the quality and quantity of the food, forcing caterers to step up orders for animal proteins such as eggs and chicken.
