ALBAWABA - In the last few days, the story of Syrian woman Christina Ibrahim Hassan has been buzzing the internet after she was kidnapped in Homs.
Christina, who is from Beit Al-Marj village in the countryside of Safita, was kidnapped by a gang and for her release they requested $60K as a ransom from her family.
Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) sources confirmed that the kidnappers contacted the victim's family after they kidnapped her in mid-July in Homs while she was on her way to Damascus to bring supplies for her work as a women's hairdresser.
They sent pictures and videos to her family showing the young woman being tortured at the hands of the gang members as they requested money to release her. The mother of Christina Hassan has denied rumors spreading online that claim the young lady was released and saved from the gang.
The gang threatened to kill the kidnapped woman, 21, and sell her organs if her family refused to pay the required ransom, while the girl's family appealed to the concerned authorities to help them free her.
Kidnappings for ransom incidents are on the rise not only in Syria but also in Lebanon as many cases and stories were spoken about out loud calling authorities to move in protecting young people from the gangs.
