ALBAWABA - White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt recently raised eyebrows when she referred to late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei as "Ayatollah 'Allah' Khamenei" during a press briefing in the White House.

Leavitt discussed the two-week ceasefire deal between Washington and Tehran, calling it a victory for the US, further praising President Donald Trump and the US Army for their role in Operation Epic Fury, which eventually led to her mispronunciation of the late supreme leader's name.

The White House Press Secretary said, "Their [Iran's] murderous and evil plans have blown up quite literally and figuratively, along with their military, nuclear program, and most of their senior leadership, including the former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Allah Khamenei."

This comes after the Iran war came to an end as both parties (the US and Iran) reached a ceasefire. The viral clip drew a wide variety of reactions on social media.

Washington and Tehran agreed to a conditional two-week ceasefire deal that includes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which has been closed since the start of the war in February 2026.

A social media user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "You have ONE JOB, how do you not know the name of the guy your administration spent years crying about, then bragging about assassinating."

Another added, "She needs to be fired immediately."
