ALBAWABA - According to a report by the Israeli Army, a missile fired from Yemen "fell in an open area", hitting an unpopulated area, causing no injuries in the area affected.

"Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in central Israel, a surface-to-surface missile was identified crossing into central Israel from the east and fell in an open area. No injuries were reported," the military stated.

There were also loud sirens heard in the area, which the military reported were caused by fired missile interceptors.

Preliminary reports revealed that an early effort to intercept the missile may have missed its target before entering Israeli airspace, which might explain the falling shrapnel within "Israel".

According to Israeli Channel 14, the Arrow missile system was launched in an effort to intercept the missile after the security system monitored it for several minutes.

According to Channel 14 military and political correspondent Hallel Bitton Rosen, "It is unclear why interception attempts were made over central Israel rather than closer to the border; the outcomes of these efforts are still under investigation."

Simultaneously, video captured by Israeli media shows the missile landing down in after its failure to be intercepted by air defense systems.

A long-range drone shot by the Houthis in Yemen, who are affiliated with Iran, struck and killed one person in July while injuring four others. Israel launched a significant airstrike on Houthi military sites close to Yemen's Hodeidah port as a result of the attack, which resulted in the killing of at least and 87 injuries.
