Peace talks between warring factions in Yemen have ended without agreement as renewed conflict flares in the war-torn country, the Associated Press reported.

According to the AP, the UN's special envoy to Yemen, Ismail Ould Sheikh Ahmed, is expected to hold a press conference later Sunday.

A source speaking to Reuters said the peace talks will be renewed on January 14 at their new location in Ethiopia.

The conflict pits Houthi rebels against a coalition of mostly Arab states supported by Saudi-led airstrikes. More than 5,500 people have been killed since fighting escalated in March.
