Yemen's exiled government on Saturday published a statement that said it would not be participating in UN-brokered peace talks with Houthis unless the rebels first withdrew from territory they have captured, AFP reported.
According to AFP, the presidential office wrote it would not be participating in the discussion unless "the militia recognizes Resolution 2216 and agrees to implement it without conditions."
The statement comes after exiled President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi had initially agreed to attending the peace talks. UN's special envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, previously announced both parties would be attending the meetings without conditions.
The talks were scheduled to take place in Oman, a neutral party in Yemen's conflict as it's the only Gulf state that has not joined the Saudi-led coalition conducting airstrikes.
The UN has repeatedly called for ceasefires in Yemen, but previous attempts at peace were unsuccessful.
