World class organisations recruit UAE nationals at major exhibition

Cross section of industries take part in careers exhibition to find outstanding employees

A number of world class organisations have come together at a major education, training and careers exhibition in Abu Dhabi to recruit UAE nationals for private and public sector jobs.

Organised by IIR Middle East and inaugurated by HH Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research, NAJAH, the most comprehensive event of its kind in the UAE, has welcomed a high number of graduates who are looking for jobs in finance, telecommunications, travel and more.

Barclays Bank, which took part in the inaugural NAJAH event in 2007, has returned this year to continue its graduate recruitment drive in the UAE.  Barclays joins a number of international organisations, such as RBS, HSBC, Standard Chartered and BNP Paribas, which are actively recruiting graduates and placing a particular emphasis on UAE nationals.

“We offer very competitive packages for our employees, with each one going through an extensive six month training programme to ensure they understand our commitment to our customers,” said Jamal Tahlak, Vice President, Area Manager Abu Dhabi Consumer Banking, Royal Bank of Scotland.

“We are currently re-branding all ABN AMRO branches throughout the UAE, as part of our acquisition, and are heavily recruiting for our Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah branches, as well as the service centres on Sheikh Zayed Road and Deira in Dubai.

“We believe this exhibition is an ideal place to meet high calibre candidates and we are ready to receive CVs and even interview them here at our stand,” he continued.

The exhibition has played host to the launch of jobs.abudhabi.ae, Abu Dhabi’s new official job recruitment website.  Visitors have been able to upload their CVs onto the site, while businesses posted their vacancies and searching through the potential candidates.

ADNOC has also returned to the second edition of NAJAH to assist in their objective to reach 75 per cent of Emiratisation.  “We are trying to reach out to engineers this year at NAJAH and find highly technical graduates,” said Shireen Al Romaithi, Senior Officer Planning and Follow Up, ADNOC.

Graduates and career professionals with one to two years experience have been able to make direct contact with HR managers from companies such as Etisalat, Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi Investment House and UAE Air Force and Air Defence, all of which are on a heavy recruitment drive.

With a global recession looking increasingly likely following the failure of several financial firms throughout the world, it is reassuring to see so many important organisations in the UAE continuing aggressive recruitment programmes.

NAJAH has been organised as a direct response to the growing number of young people in the UAE, which accounts for 50 per cent of the population, and the UAE’s continued commitment to higher education and professional development.

The exhibition, which is free to attend, takes place until Tuesday 21 October at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, from 10am to 7pm.  Visitors can access individual job profiling technology, speak to careers counsellors in the jobs.abudhabi.ae Careers Advice Lounge, and learn from experts in a number of specialist seminars.
