ALBAWABA - Violent clashes were reported in Khartoum Bahri, north of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, Al Jazeera sources revealed on Wednesday.
The intense fighting comes amid the United Nations' discussion that focuses on finding solutions to the humanitarian crisis and peace in Sudan after over a year and eight months of war.
The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the UN to Sudan, Ramtane Lamamra, held talks on Tuesday with Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani with an aim to find solutions to the crisis in Sudan.
The sources detailed that the Sudanese army used heavy artillery and warplanes during the battles that lasted for several hours, and confirmed that the army was able to control the Sultan Towers, where Rapid Support Forces were entrenched and used as a sniper position.
In addition, they confirmed that the Sudanese army is seeking to re-take control imposed on the Signal Corps and the General Command in the Sudanese capital.
