ALBAWABA - Russian officials revealed on Sunday that two law enforcement officers have been taken hostage by some prisoners in a jail in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, RT reported.
Russian Prison Service just announced that the hostage incident in the Rostov District Prison has ended after the kidnapping prisoners were killed.
Earlier, TASS news agency confirmed the news and said that it was reported by the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the region. It further noted that negotiations are underway to rescue those who were held by the prisoners.
The message reads: "The defendants, held in one of the cells of the pre-trial detention center-1 of the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Rostov Region, took hostage two employees of the penal system."
It maintains: "The head of the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Rostov Region is at the scene of the incident, as well as representatives of the interacting law enforcement agencies and the prosecutor’s office."
A video was posted on Telegram showing a prisoner wearing a headband similar to the ISIS flag, along with a Russian law enforcement officer whose hands were tied behind his back. Then the footage shows another prison worker also tied and held by other prisoners in the city of Rostov.
Nonetheless, Russia's law enforcement agencies noted that the prisoners were armed with a pocket knife.
