ALBAWABA- The United States and Russia are set to hold bilateral talks in Istanbul on April 10, marking the second round of direct meetings between the two powers since early 2025, the U.S. State Department confirmed.
The discussions will focus on restoring embassy operations and broader bilateral relations, amid ongoing tensions over the war in Ukraine.
This diplomatic engagement follows the first U.S.-Russia meeting held in Riyadh on February 18, which was the most comprehensive dialogue between the two nations since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
That summit aimed to explore avenues for improving ties and negotiating an end to the conflict.
The follow-up meeting in Riyadh on March 24 saw both delegations engage in 12 hours of intensive negotiations, including discussions around a possible ceasefire in the Black Sea region and a broader halt to military operations.
While no breakthroughs have been officially announced, the continuation of these meetings signals a tentative diplomatic opening between Washington and Moscow after years of strained relations.
