The British University in Dubai Search for Talented IT Students to Take Part in ‘Fellowship’ Programme
In a bid to recruit the region’s most talented IT graduates for its Master’s programme in Information Technology (IT), The British University in Dubai (BUiD) – the Middle East’s leading research-based postgraduate university – is offering three full-tuition fellowships for the upcoming academic year.
As part of the fellowship, the students will spend the equivalent to 20 hours per week working as researchers / lab assistants with the Faculty of Informatics at BUiD to help develop and expand its research and undertake projects.
“There are many talented and hard working students in the region who might not have the opportunity to complete a quality postgraduate degree in higher education. Through our fellowship initiative, we are offering students the chance to further their education and work with leading professors at BUiD in a bid to expand on our IT offerings and reputation,” said Dr Abdullah Alshamsi, Vice-Chancellor, BUiD.
The fellowship involves a rigorous selection process in which potential students must be among the top students holding a first degree in IT, Computer Science, Cognitive Science or within a related area. Students require an enthusiasm for research and scientific inquiry and will enrol in the MSc in IT programme on a part-time basis.
The Faculty of Informatics at the British University in Dubai is the first institute dedicated solely to postgraduate IT education and research in the UAE. Academic staff at BUiD’s Faculty of Informatics undertakes quality research of international standards through its partnership with the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh, one of the world’s leading research departments in IT. The Faculty continues to develop a critical mass of IT research activity that targets challenges specific to the region.
Graduates from this programme consistently publish their findings in key journals and present in top international conferences, preparing them for excellent careers in industrial research and development (R&D) or for pursuing further study towards a PhD.
BUiD also offers a variety of other scholarships, covering 75, 50, and 25 percent of the tuition fee. Candidates who do not qualify for the fellowship will automatically be considered for the other scholarships.
