Dubai Chamber in association with Arab Society for Intellectual Property organized a three-day training programme on copyright for the benefit of its stakeholders


Dubai, UAE: As part of its strategy to support and protect the interests of the business community, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry in association with the Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP) organized a three-day training programme from April 26 to 28 on Copyright and Contiguous Rights at the Novotel Hotel in Dubai.

The training programme event which coincided with the World Intellectual Property Day on April 26 was attended by lawyers and legal advisers, professionals in the field of media and advertising, copyright and intellectual property managers, officials from the Ministry of Economy and Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.

In the framework of the Chamber’s strategic objective of supporting the development of business, the training programme provided ample information on the subject of intellectual property and copyright to all attendees. The training sessions also covered global developments and amendments to the copyright laws which would acquaint the participants with their professional rights according to international standards.

Jehad Kazim, Director, Legal Services Department, Dubai Chamber, said the training provided a solid background and understanding of the laws governing copyright in the various Arab countries as the participants were introduced to the registration procedure and the means to protect their copyright work.

Said Jehad, “On its part, Dubai Chamber is committed to creating a favourable business environment as the Chamber is keen to raise awareness levels on copyright and related issues which will ultimately work towards building a stimulating business atmosphere in the Emirate.”

The Director of the Legal Services Department pointed out the importance of copyright which she said is essential for the protection of human creativity against piracy as the law encourages creative writing and goes a long way in reassuring the writers about their legal rights.
