A Ghanaian U.N. peacekeeper was reported Sunday to have died in a Sidon hospital from gunshot injuries he suffered in a mysterious shooing on the Lebanon-Israel border.

The victim was not identified by the command of the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), pending the notification of the Ghanian government and his next of kin.

The U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) soldier was wounded Saturday under mysterious circumstances. Two shots were fired at a U.N. position on the U.N.-carved Blue Line on the border.

The incident took place some three kilometers from the border town of Naqoura, which houses the UNIFIL command. The Ghanaian was evacuated by a U.N. helicopter to the Hammoud hospital in Sidon. He died in the operating theater, a UNIFIL officer said Sunday. (Albawaba.com)
