Swiss haute watch brand Ulysse Nardin will unveil an exclusive limited edition ‘Abu Dhabi Yacht Show’ precision timepiece (Chronometer) that jointly pays homage to the company’s strong marine heritage and Abu Dhabi city at next week’s second outing of the exclusive exhibition.
The special edition collection, created to mark the company’s status as official watch sponsor of the 2nd Abu Dhabi Yacht Show (ADYS), will be limited to only 10 timepieces in 18-carat rose gold and a further 10 in stainless steel.
The ‘tribute’ models will headline a collection to be displayed at the show, at Yas Marina from February 25-27, all of which celebrate Ulysse Nardin’s marine history. The special edition pieces feature an officially certified self-winding movement (C.O.S.C) with a power reserve indicator, oversized small seconds register and a large date display at 6 o’clock. The elegant 43 mm case is individually numbered and has a screw down crown and a sapphire crystal. The back of the rose gold exhibition case has a view of the fine precision movement which boasts a 22-carat hand-engraved gold rotor.
“The Middle East has emerged as a very important market for Ulysse Nardin, currently accounting for about 15% market share,” said Christophe Chorao, the company’s Area Sales Manager for the Middle East. “The brand already has a strong presence in the UAE, with of 10 sales outlets in Dubai, Al Ain and Abu Dhabi – two of which are at Hamdan Street’s Al Sayegh Jewellery and in Emirates Palace hotel. The Abu Dhabi Yacht Show will help reinforce our brand exclusivity and engage it with a select audience.”
Guests at the highly-anticipated second ADYS are expected to include some of the region’s most important personalities, including royalty and business leaders, as well as high net-worth individuals – a visitor profile of extremely high cachet for über luxury brands – who will mingle with global giants of the superyacht industry, alongside some 30 of the world’s most impressive luxury vessels.
“After our successful participation in the Monaco Boat Show in 2009, we decided to extend our participation to yet another prestigious yachting forum that is already seen as the epitome of excellence in a part of the world that is rapidly growing in importance for us. Our sponsorship of the 2nd Abu Dhabi Yacht Show 2010 pays homage to Ulysse Nardin's sea-faring history since 1846, the strong marine heritage of Abu Dhabi, and more importantly, its bright future,” added Chorao.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, ADYS is the Middle East’s premier show focusing exclusively on the luxury superyacht and megayacht sector, comprising sailing and motorised yachts over 25 metres in length. It is organised by the Informa Yacht Group with Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority as headline sponsor.
