During a meeting with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Hamdan Bin-Zayed Al Nahayan, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Anatoliy Zlenko said that he believes that the support provided by the UAE for Ukraine's entering the World Trade Organization could become an important mechanism for increasing the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation. The meeting was held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
According to the Ukrainian UNIAN News Agency, Zlenko informed his counterpart about the prospects for developing military and technical cooperation between the two countries. He said that Kiev was ready to supply military and transport aviation, armored vehicles and radar equipment to the UAE.
The Ukrainian Minister also stressed the launch of the UAE commercial telecommunication satellite Thuraya, by a Ukrainian booster rocket in October 2000 as a perfect example of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides.
According to Zlenko, Ukraine is paying close attention to the development of integration processes in the Arab Gulf region and would like to cooperate in them. In particular, Zlenko pointed out that Ukraine is ready to take part in the reconstruction and building of oil and gas pipelines in the UAE.
During the talks, the Ukrainian side also expressed interest in receiving humanitarian aid from the UAE for the resettlement of deported Crimean Tatars, cooperation programs to build residential housing and for establishing infrastructure in Crimean Tatar settlements. (Albawaba.com)
