ALBAWABA- A reported attack has struck the Kamensky Combine, one of Russia's largest chemical plants located in Rostov Oblast, according to Andrii Kovalenko, head of Ukraine's counter-disinformation center, on Dec. 18.
The plant specializes in producing rocket fuel and components for ammunition and explosives, including solid fuel for intercontinental ballistic missiles and multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
Russian officials have not confirmed the strike. However, Rostov Oblast's Acting Governor Yury Slyusar claimed that Russian air defense systems intercepted 10 missiles over the region on the same day.
Kovalenko shared a video on Telegram purportedly showing explosions at the plant, though the claims remain unverified.
The Kamensky Combine has been sanctioned by the European Union, United Kingdom, and United States for its involvement in Russia's military-industrial complex supporting the war against Ukraine.
This incident follows a reported Ukrainian missile strike on a boiler plant in Rostov Oblast just a week earlier, on Dec. 11. Kyiv has intensified its focus on targeting Russian military-industrial facilities, airbases, and oil refineries.
The Russian Defense Ministry condemned the alleged attack, accusing Ukraine of using Western-supplied ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles. Officials vowed retaliation, stating, "The missile strike launched by Kyiv on Rostov Oblast with Western support will not go unanswered."
