The United Kingdom plans to deploy troops to Tunisia to help prevent Daesh fighters from entering the country from Libya, according to a statement made by the British defense minister on Monday.
"A training team of some 20 troops from the 4th Infantry Brigade is now moving to Tunisia to help to counter illegal cross-border movement from Libya in support of the Tunisian authorities," Michael Fallon told Parliament on Monday.
The deployment comes after increasing Western concerns that Daesh aims to carry out attacks from Libya. Last June, 30 British tourists were killed when an gunman opened fire on a beach at a hotel on Tunisia's Mediterranean coast.
