Britain's ambassador to Israel, Sherard Cowper-Coles, has been appointed ambassador to Saudi Arabia, the British Foreign Office said Tuesday, announcing what it termed as a routine diplomatic reshuffle.
Cowper-Coles will replace Derek Plumbly, who has been appointed ambassador to Egypt.
Plumbly in turn will take over from John Sawers, who in addition to his role as Egyptian ambassador has also been serving as British Prime Minister Tony Blair's special envoy to Baghdad after the Iraq war.
No announcement has been made on who will fill the positions of Britain's ambassador to Israel and Blair's envoy to Baghdad. (Albawaba.com)
