UAE's public prosecutor's office has begun its investigation the case of the Briton who hacked into Emirates Telecommunications Corp's (Etisalat) Internet system last June.Lee Ashurst was charged with the "misuse of equipment, services or facilities provided by Etisalat," Emirates' newspapers reported.
The 21-year-old hacker was allegedly traced as one of the hackers who caused widescale disruptions to the service, causing it to crash.
According to other press reports, the hacker was granted bail while Etisalat prepared a technical report detailing the allegations.
Last June, Ashurst had proclaimed his innocence, saying at a press conference that "I can say with absolute conviction that I have nothing to do with the damage done to the Internet."
