A new sea line linking the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Iraq has been launched for passenger traffic, Emirates official news agency (WAM) reported, quoting Sultan Ahmed bin Suleyem, director general of Dubai Seaports Authority.
The sea route, which is the second of its kind, will link Port Rashid of the UAE and Umm Qasr of Iraq, creating new opportunities for the two countries, Sultan told WAM, noting that the first ship, "Jebel Ali," will travel to Iraq three times a week.
The UAE had planned to re-start regular flights to Iraq in November last year after more than 20 countries flew to Baghdad, defying the UN sanctions on Iraq after Kuwait’s invasion 1990 – Albawaba.com
