Saudi Air Force aircraft crashed Sunday during a training exercise inside Saudi Arabia, killing two pilots, reported AFP.
One of the pilots was an instructor and the other a student at King Faisal Air Academy, located in Saudi Arabia’s capital city Riyadh.
No details were available on the site of the crash or the type of aircraft involved in the incident.
Since late March 2015, Saudi Arabia has led a coalition of states in airstrikes against Houthi rebel positions in Yemen, in “Operation Decisive Storm.”
Saudi Arabia and its allies launched April 23 a new round of airstrikes, called “Operation Reviving Hope”, despite an announcement two days earlier that the kingdom had ended its air campaign, according to Al Arabiya.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the death toll in Yemen has reached over 1,000 people, and true numbers are expected to be much higher. UNICEF, the UN children's orginazation, estimates over 115 children have been killed in Yemen since the start of the airstrikes.
