Two rounds of mortars were fired on an Israeli post in the Shebaa Farms, a mountainous area at the Lebanese-Syrian borders occupied by Israel since 1967, security sources said.
Earlier, Lebanese police erected a checkpoint near the border with Lebanon late Saturday after two Palestinian refugees were killed when Israeli troops fired at protestors hurling stones.
Dozens of policemen manned the barrier at a crossroads close to the border opposite the Zareet settlement in northern Israel, as Israeli troops patrolled on the other side, police said.
They searched passing cars and checked identity cards.
On Saturday, Israeli soldiers opened fire at hundreds of Palestinian refugees hurling stones and Molotov cocktails across the border fence to protest Israeli "massacres" of Palestinians in Israel and Palestinian territories.
Lebanese Hizbollah fighters riposted with rockets and shells on Israeli troops in the disputed Shabaa Farms area and captured three soldiers in an ambush.
After Israel's May 24 withdrawal from southern Lebanon, the Beirut government refused to send its regular army to the borders.
